Tunisia Signs a $312 Million Loan Agreement with the Arab Monetary Fund

Tunisia has signed a US$312 million loan agreement with the Arab Monetary Fund to support economic and financial stability, strengthen its reform program, and improve the balance of payments. The financing will be disbursed in three installments and repaid over seven years, including a three-and-a-half-year grace period.

As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen economic and financial stability, the Republic of Tunisia signed the First Extended Loan Agreement with the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) on July 7, 2026, for an amount of approximately US$312 million. The financing aims to support the government's economic and financial reform program while helping address the country's balance of payments needs. The agreement is expected to reinforce Tunisia's foreign exchange reserves, strengthen the resilience of the national economy, preserve macroeconomic and external financial stability, and enhance investor and international partner confidence in the country's economic outlook.

Under the terms of the agreement, the loan will be disbursed in three installments, with the first installment released immediately after the agreement enters into force. Each installment will have a repayment period of seven years, including a grace period of three and a half years. Following the grace period, repayment will be made through eight equal semi-annual installments. This financing structure provides Tunisia with greater financial flexibility to continue implementing structural reforms, improve the investment climate, promote sustainable economic growth, and strengthen the country's long-term fiscal and external sustainability.
